Vietnam Export Promotion Forum 2024: “Promoting Green Exports”

Green and sustainable development has been identified as one of the key missions within Vietnam’s socio-economic development strategy for 2021–2030. This is reflected in the Strategy for Import and Export of Goods by 2030, the National Strategy for Green Growth for the 2021–2030 period with a vision to 2050, and other government-issued initiatives, such as Decision No. 1658/QD-TTg (October 1, 2021) and Decision No. 843/QD-TTg (2023–2027). These frameworks aim to enhance policies and regulations to foster responsible business practices nationwide.

In alignment with these objectives, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has collaborated with Swiss government-supported projects to organize the Vietnam Export Promotion Forum, focusing on “Promoting Green Exports.” This forum is a strategic initiative to support Vietnamese enterprises in transitioning toward sustainable growth models, reducing carbon emissions, and enhancing competitiveness in a globalized context.

Building on the successes of previous years, the 2024 forum continues to prioritize the theme of “Green Export Promotion,” attracting more than 300 delegates from ministries, local authorities, embassies, international organizations, and leading experts in global trade. Attendees include representatives from sectors such as green finance, digital technology, logistics, and sustainable export value chains.

During the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyễn Sinh Nhật Tân highlighted Vietnam’s potential and existing advantages in becoming a key link in global supply chains. Particularly in the field of sustainable and green exports, Vietnam is presented with opportunities to invest in renewable energy, cleaner production methods, digital economies, and circular economic models. These advancements not only help Vietnam meet international market requirements but also elevate its global position, contributing to the realization of sustainable development goals.

The forum provided a platform for experts to share insights and address business concerns, focusing on critical topics such as:

  • Policies supporting green production.
  • Green standards and international certifications.
  • Digital transformation in production.
  • Green technologies and logistics solutions for sustainable supply chains.
  • Green finance solutions for enterprises.

The plenary sessions and thematic discussions offered practical, multi-dimensional perspectives on macroeconomic policies and actionable solutions. These sessions also highlighted initial achievements by Vietnamese enterprises in green and digital transformation.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade’s organization of the “Green Export Promotion Forum” underscores that green development is not merely a goal but a driver of a modern, sustainable economy. It contributes to increasing export value, protecting the environment, and enhancing Vietnam’s position within the global value chain. Embracing green transformation allows businesses to reduce risks of exclusion from key export markets, build sustainable brands, increase product value, and access premium customer segments globally. This strategic step enables Vietnam to solidify its role in international value chains while promoting sustainable economic growth, reducing environmental impact, and enhancing the competitiveness of its economy.
